Golden Eagles fall to Scotties in 2A State Tournament

OWENSBORO — Glasgow eliminated Johnson Central from the 2A Boys’ Basketball State Tournament, defeating the Golden Eagles 81-64 at the Sportscenter on Friday, Jan. 16.
Following the loss, Johnson Central fell to 11-3.
Johnson Central shot 34.5 percent (20-of-58) from the field. The Golden Eagles made five of 17 three-point field goal attempts.
Johnson Central shot 90.5 percent (19-of-21) from the free throw line.
Austin Slone and Mason Mckenzie combined to lead Johnson Central, scoring 16 points apiece for the Golden Eagles.
Along with Slone and McKenzie reaching double figures for Johnson Central, Brayden Shepherd netted 13 points.
Finishing near double figures for Johnson Central, Cooper Blair scored eight points while Kaleb Callaham contributed seven points.
Chipping in offensively for the Golden Eagles, Alex Marcum and Kyler Callaham added two points apiece.
Kyle Rose, Andrew Collins and Jaidon Daniel also played for Johnson Central but did not score.
Honored at the conclusion of the game, Slone was named to the All-2A Boys’ Basketball State Tournament Team. Slone is among the top boys’ high school basketball players in the 15th Region.
Johnson Central and Glasgow aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2025-26 boys’ high school basketball season.
