Johnson Central edges Perry County Central 3-2

PAINTSVILLE — Finishing strong, Johnson Central edged visiting Perry County Central 3-2 in a high school softball game on Wednesday, April 28.

After notching the win, Johnson Central (15th Region) improved to 14-2.

Randi Delong led Johnson Central to the win at the plate, belting a solo home run and driving in two of the Lady Eagles' three runs.

Kendal Hall delivered three singles and scored two runs for Johnson Central in the victory.

Contributing for Johnson Central at the plate, Emily Adkins singled in one run.

Chloe VanHoose was the winning pitcher for the Lady Eagles. VanHoose worked out of a relief role, allowing only one hit and zero runs while recording six strikeouts over two and one-third innings.

Madelyn Vaughn started in the circle for Perry County Central (14th Region). Vaughn pitched two and one-third innings, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks. The Johnson Central starting pitcher recorded eight strikeouts.

Perry County Central pitcher Kim Hughes pitched a complete game and took the loss in the circle. Hughes allowed three runs on six hits while allowing one walk and recording six strikeouts over seven innings.

Both Johnson Central and Perry County Central are region title contenders.
