Golden Eagles to host Franklin County in Class 4A State Semifinals

PAINTSVILLE — Reigning state champion Johnson Central is slated to host Franklin County in the KHSAA Class 4A State Semifinals at Eagle Field on Friday, Dec. 11.
Johnson Central has won 25 straight games and is 10-0 in the 2020 high school football season. Johnson Central doubled up Corbin 28-14 in the Class 4A Quarterfinals on Friday, Dec. 4.
Senior athlete Dylan Preston leads defending state champion Johnson Central. Preston has rushed 131 times for 1,597 yards and 28 touchdowns. The senior athlete has hauled in five receptions for 152 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Preston has recorded 42 tackles, 4.5 tackles for losses, 8 sacks and 1 interception.
As a team, Johnson Central has rushed 362 times for 3,657 yards and 54 touchdowns.
Through the air for Johnson Central, junior quarterback Grant Rice has completed 20 of 31 passes for 621 yards and nine touchdowns.
Toby Spriggs is the Golden Eagles' leading receiver. Spriggs has reeled in six receptions for 252 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior linebacker Mason Lemaster paces Johnson Central defensively with 77 tackles, 8.5 tackles for losses and 4.5 sacks.

Franklin County is 8-1. The Flyers suffered a two-point loss to Louisville Central during the regular season before defeating the Yellow Jackets earlier in the postseason. Franklin County beat Allen County-Scottsville 48-14 in the Class 4A Quarterfinals.
Senior quarterback Nick Broyles leads Franklin County. Broyles has completed 114 of 154 passes for 1,951 passes and 24 touchdowns.
Senior receiver Fred Farrier leads the Flyers in receiving. Farrier has reeled in 46 receptions for 874 yards and 11 touchdowns.
As a team, Franklin County has rushed 177 times 939 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Sophomore linebacker Peyton Ledford has posted 83 tackles and 8.5 tackle for losses to lead the Flyers defensively.
