PAINTSVILLE — Registering its third straight win, Johnson Central defeated visiting Mountain Mission (Va.) 54-43 in a girls’ high school basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Johnson Central shot 34.6 percent (18-of-52) from the field in the Kentucky-Virginia girls’ basketball matchup. The Lady Eagles hit four of 17 three-point field goal attempts.
Johnson Central shot 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the free throw line.
Haylee Marsillett scored 14 points to lead Johnson Central to the win. Marsillett finished six-for-six from inside the arc.
Joining Marsillett in double figures for Johnson Central, Adyson Burchett scored 12 points.
Barely missing double figures for Johnson Central, Sophie Younce netted nine points.
Eight different players provided scoring for Johnson Central in the win.
The other scorers for Johnson Central were Becca Wright (six points), Taylor McKenzie (five points), Abbie Stambaugh (three points), McKinley Cantrell (three points) and Kaylyn McKenzie (two points).
After registering the win, Johnson Central moved to 12-3.
