Johnson Central defeats Lawrence County 70-57

LOUISA — Visiting Johnson Central defeated Lawrence County 70-57 in a girls' high school basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 6.

After notching the win, Johnson Central improved to 8-2.

Lawrence County dropped to 8-5 following the loss.

Johnson Central shot 53.3 percent (24-of-45) from the field. The Lady Eagles shot 48.1 percent (13-of-27) from 3-point range.

Johnson Central finished 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) from the free throw line.

Kelci Blair and Clara Blair scored 18 points apiece to lead Johnson Central to the win. The two Johnson Central players combined to connect on 7-of-13 3-point field goal attempts.

Reigning 58th District champion Lawrence County shot 42.6 percent (20-of-47) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs were 6-of-24 (25 percent) from 3-point range.

Lawrence County shot 78.6 percent (11-of-14) from the free throw line.

The Lady Bulldogs managed to outrebound Johnson Central 27-19.

Elli Webb led Lawrence County in scoring, netting 24 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Webb was 6-of-14 from 3-point range.

Finishing directly behind Webb in scoring and leading Lawrence County on the backboards, Kensley Feltner added 23 points and eight rebounds.

Johnson Central and Lawrence County are former 57th District rivals.
