Lady Bulldogs beat Betsy Layne for district win

LOUISA — Lawrence County pulled away to beat visiting Betsy Layne 86-70 in a 58th District girls' basketball game on Friday, Feb. 5.
The Lady Bulldogs halted a three-game losing skid.
The win allowed Lawrence County to improve to 2-1 in the 58th District.
Betsy Layne dropped to 1-2 following the loss.
Lawrence County shot 57.4 percent (31-of-54) from the field. Connecting on over half of its attempts beyond the arc, Lawrence County shot 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from 3-point range.
Lawrence County shot 66.7 percent (14-of-21) from the free throw line.
Four different Lawrence County players reached double figures in scoring in the 58th District matchup. Kensley Feltner, one of the top young girls' high school basketball players in the state, led Lawrence County, scoring a game-high 32 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Feltner was 10-of-13 from inside the arc.
Sophia Adkins added 16 points for the Lady Bulldogs while Ellie Webb and Kaison Ward contributed 13 points apiece.
Adkins paced Lawrence County inside, pulling down seven rebounds.
Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Betsy Layne for a 58th District girls' basketball game at Junior Newsome Arena on Saturday, Feb. 20.
