PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central held on to defeat Martin County 1-0 in the 15th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament championship match at Coach Jim Matney Field on Thursday, Oct. 16.
Callie Davis scored off an assist from Braylee Murphy to lift Johnson Central to the win.
Goalkeeper Greta Lewandoski led Johnson Central defensively, recording a shutout. Lewandoski delivered 10 saves for Johnson Central in the 15th Region girls’ soccer title match.
Defensively for Martin County, goalkeeper Briana Muncy held Johnson Central to one goal and recorded two saves.
Following the win, Johnson Central advanced to the KHSAA Girls’ Soccer State Tournament.
As a result of the loss, 15th Region All “A” Classic champion Martin County ended its season 15-2.
