BELFRY – Winning on the road, Johnson Central blanked Belfry 17-0 in a high school softball game on Thursday, May 13.
Johnson Central limited Belfry batters throughout the non-district high school softball game.
A pair of Johnson Central pitchers combined to pitch a shutout.
Emily Adkins started in the circle for Johnson Central and claimed the pitching win. Adkins pitched five innings, allowing four hits and one walk while recording six strikeouts.
Madelyn Vaughn closed out the game in the circle for 15th Region title contender Johnson Central, allowing only one hit over the final two innings.
Turning in one of its most offensive-heavy performances thus far in the 2021 high school softball season Johnson Central scored 17 runs on 22 hits.
Adkins (3-for-5), Vaughn (5-for-5, one RBI), Mayson Delong (3-for-4, four RBIs), Chloe VanHoose (2-for-4), Kendal Hall (2-for-5, three RBIs), Randi Delong (2-for-5, four RBIs), Claire Gamble (2-for-2, one RBI), Abby Stambaugh (1-for-1, two RBIs), Clara Blair (1-for-5, one RBI) and Macy Conley (1-for-2, one RBI) each contributed at the plate for the Eagles.
Familiar 15th Region rivals, Johnson Central and Belfry met for the first time in the 2021 high school softball season.
