PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central pulled away to defeat visiting Pike County Central 64-45 in a late-season girls’ high school basketball game on Monday, Feb. 13.

Turning in a solid offensive effort, Johnson Central shot 58.1 percent (25-of-43) from the field. The Lady Eagles connected on four of 12 three-point field goal attempts, shooting 33.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Johnson Central shot 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the free throw line.

As part of a balanced scoring attack, Johnson Central featured three scorers in double figures.

Kaylyn McKenzie scored 13 points to lead Johnson Central to the win.

Sophie Younce netted 11 points for Johnson Central while Haylee Marsillett and Taylor McKenzie scored 10 points apiece.

Nine different players provided scoring for the Lady Eagles. The additional scorers for Johnson Central were Adyson Burchett (seven points), Becca Wright (six points), McKinley Cantrell (three points), Kyra Blanton (two points) and Olivia Conn (two points).

Pike County Central shot 42.4 percent (14-of-33) from the field. The Lady Hawks made three of eight three-point field goal attempts.

Pike County Central shot 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the free throw line.

Hannah May and Emalie Tackett scored 13 points apiece to pace Pike County Central.

Joining May and Tackett in double figures for Pike County Central, Abigail Hess added 10 points.

Contributing for Pike County Central, Lindsey Bowman added five points and Kennedy Hamilton chipped in four points.

Tackett paced Pike County Central inside, securing nine rebounds.
