Feltners take top 15th Region hoops honors

LOUISA — Lawrence County head coach Melinda Feltner and senior guard Kensley Feltner have earned the top 15th Region hoops honors from the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC).

Melinda Feltner has been named the 15th Region Girls’ Basketball Coach of the Year.

Kensley Feltner has been named the 15th Region Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year.

During the regular season, Melinda Feltner guided Lawrence County to a 25-5 record. Lawrence County entered the postseason with the most wins among 15th Region girls’ basketball teams.

Kensley Feltner averaged 29.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for Lawrence County during the regular season. A Belmont University signee who is a candidate for Kentucky Miss Basketball, Feltner scored the 4,000th point of her high school career on Friday, Feb. 17.

The girls’ basketball coach of the year and player of the year honorees from each of the state’s 16 regions follow.
