JCHS shuts out Pikeville, captures region championship

LICK CREEK — Remaining dominant, Johnson Central shut out rival Pikeville 10-0 in six innings in the 15th Region Softball Tournament title game at East Ridge High School on Monday, June 7.

Following the win, Johnson Central advanced to the KHSAA Softball Softball Tournament.

Johnson Central senior Chloe VanHoose pitched a one-hit shutout. VanHoose recorded 13 strikeouts over six innings as she claimed the pitching win.

Pikeville junior Emily Ford took the pitching loss. Ford allowed 10 runs on 11 hits and four walks over five and two-thirds innings. The Pikeville pitcher recorded eight strikeouts.

Randi Delong hit a grand slam and another home run to lead Johnson Central to the convincing victory. Delong drove in six of Johnson Central's 10 runs.

Abigail Williams and Cara Blair provided three hits apiece for the Eagles.

Mayson Delong, Randi Delong and Kennedi Hall added two hits apiece for Johnson Central in the region title game.

Both Williams and Hall doubled for the Eagles. Hall drove in three runs.

Olivia Hall collected Pikeville's lone hit.

Johnson Central claimed its fourth shutout win in five games.
