Johnson Central falls to Boyle County

LEXINGTON — Johnson Central fell short as Boyle County held on to win 1-0 in the opening round of the KHSAA State Softball Tournament at the University of Kentucky on Sunday, June 13.
Kayleigh White earned the win in the circle for Boyle County (12th Region). White pitched a complete game, allowing zero runs on three hits and recording 12 strikeouts over seven innings.
Chloe VanHoose took the pitching loss for Johnson Central (15th Region). VanHoose surrendered one run on seven hits over seven innings, recording 11 strikeouts while giving up one walk.
Boyle County outhit Jonson Central 7-3.
The Rebels plated one run in the top half of the third inning to move ahead.
Hailey Cannon and Summer Ray each recorded multiple hits for the Rebels. Cannon went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Boyle County's offensive effort.
Randi Delong, Clara Blair and Maddie Vaughn recorded one hit apiece for Johnson Central in the season-ending loss.
Defensively, Johnson Central committed two errors.
Johnson Central competed in the state tournament after shutting out Pikeville 10-0 in six innings to win in the 15th Region title.
