PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central held on to beat visiting Breathitt County 7-6 in nine innings in a high school baseball season opener on Monday, March 29.
The Bobcats lost despite outhitting Johnson Central 7-6.
Ryan Sartin-Slone was the winning pitcher for Johnson Central. Sartin-Slone allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three.
Hunter Blevins and Seth Fitch entered the game out of the Golden Eagle bullpen and helped to close out the matchup in relief roles.
Gavin Crum started the game on the mound for Johnson Central. Crum pitched three innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out seven and walking one.
Skylar Haddix started on the mound for the Bobcats. Haddix pitched three innings, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out three.
Andrew Combs and Jake Combs entered the game from the Bobcat bullpen, throwing four and two-thirds innings and one inning, respectively.
Brock Butcher and Matt Crum paced Johnson Central at the plate, delivering two hits apiece.
Robbie Turner and Brady Tincher paced Breathitt County at the plate, providing two hits apiece.
Bash Howard and Trey Manns drove in two runs apiece for the Bobcats.
