PAINTSVILLE — Remaining in the win column, Johnson Central outlasted visiting Cahokia (Ill.) 42-36 in overtime in a high school football game at Eagle Field on Saturday, Sept. 11.
Johnson Central held Cahokia scoreless in overtime then scored to claim the win.
The Golden Eagles' halfbacks, Mason Lawson and Zack McCoart were each sidelined in the first half.
Johnson Central rushed 51 times for 361 yards and five touchdowns. Up front, offensive linemen Grant Bingham, Owen LeMaster, Dylan Boner, Chris Meek and Lucas Wyatt paved the way for Johnson Central's rushing attack.
Lawson led Johnson Central on the ground, rushing 12 times for 185 yards and one touchdown.
Carter Conley, who filled in for the two injured starting halfbacks, rushed eight times for 59 yards and three touchdowns.
Additionally, McCoart, Matt Crum and Chase Price rushed for positive yardage in the Eagles' win.
Quarterback Grant Rice produced through the air, completing two of three passes for 74 yards and one touchdown in Johnson Central's victory.
Cain was on the receiving end of Rice's scoring throw, hauling in a 65-yard touchdown pass reception.
Mason Lemaster led Johnson Central's defensive effort, recording 11 tackles.
Behind Mason Lemaster, Andrew Burchett logged nine tackles for the Golden Eagles.
Johnson Central is scheduled to host Rock Creek Christian Academy (Md.) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17.
