LOUISA — Lawrence County senior guard Kaiden Harris signed with the University of Pikeville men’s basketball program during a ceremony held in the LCHS Library on Friday, May 8.
“Kaiden is a great leader, super easy to coach, and he plays his heart out,” said Lawrence County Coach Chandler Thompson. “He is an ultra-competitor, a great athlete, and an even better person. That is a testament to his family; you guys have raised a fine young man. I am very thankful that you have trusted our coaching staff, these teammates, and this school and community. One of the greatest accomplishments here is being a 15th Region Champion! It is very difficult; in 50 years of play, only two teams have been able to say that, and you are one of those players who can do that. I am very proud of him, and I will always be a Kaiden Harris fan and always be in your corner.”
Harris was quick to thank those who have supported him.
“I want to thank the coaches who came today,” said Harris. “I want to thank Coach Chandler (Thompson) not just for being a great coach but also for inviting me to church often. He does a lot of things that go unnoticed. He is more than just a great coach; he is a great person. I also want to thank my family. I want to thank them for supporting me every step of the way. They spend a lot of time taking care of me. I want to thank everybody here; it really means a lot to see everybody here today.”
Harris was a longtime leader for Lawrence County. As a senior in the 2025-26 boys’ high school basketball season, Harris averaged a team-high 21.6 points per game for the Bulldogs. Harris was one of the 15th Region’s top players in the 2025-26 boys’ high school basketball season.
