LOUISA — Lawrence County beat Magoffin County 11-1 in five innings in a high school baseball regular season finale on Friday, May 15.
The Bulldogs improved to 16-14 after notching the win.
Lawrence County scored first and never trailed. The Bulldogs led 4-0 at the conclusion of the third inning.
Braxton Davis started on the mound for Lawrence County and earned the win. Davis pitched three innings and recorded five strikeouts.
Following Davis, Gray Derifield pitched two innings in relief for the Bulldogs. Derifield posted four strikeouts.
Michael Trusty started on the mound for Magoffin County and suffered the loss. Trusty pitched one inning.
Following Trusty, Isaac Howard, Evan Reed, Parker Bowling and Brody Emory each pitched in relief for the Hornets.
Lawrence County scored 11 runs on six hits. Derifield (one hit), Grant Cochran (three hits, two RBIs), Brady Caudill (one hit, two RBIs), CJ Whitt (one hit), Boedy Maynard (one RBI) and Maddox Fletcher (one RBI) each delivered at the plate in Lawrence County’s 10-run win.
Magoffin County manufactured one run on one hit. Howard hit safely once and accounted for Magoffin County’s offense.
The Bulldogs defeated the Hornets for the second time in the 2026 high school baseball season.
