LICK CREEK — Johnson Central upended East Ridge 73-49 in a boys' high school basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
The Golden Eagles pulled away from East Ridge early in the boys' high school basketball game, taking control during the first half.
Johnson Central shot 43.1 percent (25 of 58) from the field. The Golden Eagles shot 38.1 percent (eight of 21) from three-point range.
Johnson Central shot 88.2 percent (15 of 17) from the free-throw line and featured four scorers in double figures.
Grant Rice scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Golden Eagles. Joining Rice in double figures for Johnson Central, Ryleh McKenzie scored 14 points, Jacob Butcher netted 13 points and Reece Collins contributed 10 points.
Nearly recording a double-double for Johnson Central, Ryan Rose scored nine points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
East Ridge shot 36.1 percent (22-of-61) from the field. Struggling from beyond the arc, East Ridge connected on only one of 20 three-point field goal attempts.
The Warriors shot 66.7 percent (four-of-six) from the free throw line.
Isaac Woods scored a team-high 14 points to lead East Ridge. Joining Woods in double figures for the Warriors, Eli Sykes scored 13 points.
Johnson Central met 15th Region rival East Ridge for the first time in the 2021-22 boys' high school basketball season.
