Bulldogs outlast Tomcats

LOUISA — Lawrence County outlasted Ashland 75-74 in its regular season finale on Thursday, Feb. 19.
The Bulldogs improved to 17-10 after registering the win. Reigning 15th Region boys’ basketball champion Lawrence County exited the regular season on a four-game winning streak.
Lawrence County shot 46.7 percent (28-of-60) from the field. The Bulldogs shot 36.8 percent (seven-of-19) from three-point range.
Lawrence County shot 54.5 percent (12-of-22) from the free throw line.
The Bulldogs owned an advantage inside, outrebounding the Tomcats 35-26.
Kaden Johnson scored a team-high 17 points for the Bulldogs. Joining Johnson in double figures for Lawrence County, Kaiden Harris scored 16 points, Hayden Perry netted 15 points, and CJ Waller tallied 14 points.
Finishing outside double figures, Isaah Hughes (six points), Caden Muncy (five points) and Andrew Ratcliff (two points) supplied the rest of Lawrence County’s scoring.
Perry and Waller each recorded a double-double for the Bulldogs. Active inside, Perry claimed 10 rebounds while Waller corralled a game-high 14 rebounds.
Ashland shot 50.8 percent (31-of-61) from the field. The Tomcats shot 29.2 percent (seven-of-24) from three-point range.
Ashland shot 62.5 percent (five-of-eight) from the free throw line.
Drew Smith scored a game-high 21 points for the Tomcats. Smith made three of nine three-point field goal attempts.
Joining Smith in double figures for Ashland, Caleb Clarke scored 17 points, Alijah Owens netted 16 points, and Elijah Neel tallied 13 points.
Finishing in single digits, Justin Hughes (seven points) rounded out Ashland’s individual scoring.
