Golden Eagles suffer loss at North Laurel

LONDON — North Laurel scored a touchdown with 1:41 remaining in the fourth quarter and added a two-point conversion to knock off visiting Johnson Central 15-14 on Friday, Sept. 2.
Following the loss, Johnson Central dropped to 2-1.
The win allowed North Laurel to even its record to 1-1.
Quarterback Tucker Warren scored the game-winning touchdown for North Laurel, reaching the endzone on a one-yard run.
Ethan Gregory delivered the Jaguars’ first touchdown in the game, reaching the endzone on an 11-yard run.
The Golden Eagles led 14-7 at halftime and for most of the second half.
Warren completed 10 of 22 passes for 105 yards but threw two interceptions.
Jack Chappell paced North Laurel in receiving, claiming five receptions for 57 yards.
Warren led North Laurel on the ground, rushing 15 times for 83 yards and one touchdown.
Behind Warren, Gregory rushed 12 times for 47 yards and one touchdown.
Treyshawn Holmes-Evans and Clay Morris combined to lead North Laurel defensively, recording 13 tackles apiece for the Jaguars.
Johnson Central rushed 49 times for 263 yards and one touchdown in the loss.
Zack McCoart led the Golden Eagles, rushing 25 times for 155 yards and one touchdown.
Jacob Grimm, a first-year starter at quarterback, finished as the Golden Eagles’ second-leading rusher, rushing four times for 38 yards.
Chase Price and Seth Davis combined to lead Johnson Central defensively, recording nine tackles apiece.
Davis and Jesse McCoy, who posted five tackles, each recorded an interception for the Golden Eagles. McCoy returned his interception five yards for a touchdown.
Johnson Central is scheduled to visit Ironton (Ohio) on Saturday, Sept. 10.
