Golden Eagles suffer heart-breaking loss to Ashland

ASHLAND — Ashland scored in the final seconds to defeat Johnson Central and win the Class 4A, District 6 title at Putnam Stadium on Friday, Oct. 25.
The Tomcats topped the Golden Eagles 41-36.
Quarterback LaBryant Strader led Ashland to the district championship-clinching victory, completing 19 passes for 236 yards and six touchdowns.
Dylan Duckwyler (84 yards, three touchdowns), Braxton Jennings (67 yards, two touchdowns) and Cameron Davis (39 yards, one touchdown) each reeled in four receptions for the Tomcats.
Ashland rushed 15 times for 76 yards. Pacing Ashland on the ground, Jennings rushed nine times for 61 yards.
Davis led Ashland’s defensive unit, recording a game-high 14 tackles.
Johnson Central rushed 59 times for 343 yards and five touchdowns. Logan Music led Johnson Central on the ground, rushing 20 times for 182 yards and one touchdown.
Zack McCoart followed in the Golden Eagles’ offensive attack, rushing 15 times for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
Along with Music, Christian Barnes and Andrew Meeks added one rushing touchdown apiece for the Golden Eagles.
Caleb Barnes paced Johnson Central defensively, tallying 10 tackles and one tackle for a loss.
Behind Barnes, Dylan Lemaster posted seven tackles for the Golden Eagles.
Johnson Central (7-3) visited Ashland for its regular season finale.
Ashland (8-1) is scheduled to visit Simon Kenton for its regular season finale on Friday, Nov. 1.
