Golden Eagles shut out Tomcats, return to top in district

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central pulled away to defeat rival Ashland 35-0 in a Class 4A, District 6 game at Coach Jim Matney Field on Friday, Oct. 24.
The win allowed Johnson Central to capture the Class 4A, District 6 title.
Following the win, Johnson Central moved to 10-0.
Johnson Central set the tone early and gradually pulled away to win convincingly.
The Golden Eagles led 21-0 at halftime.
Johnson Central continued to excel on the ground, rushing 50 times for 425 yards and five touchdowns. Three different Johnson Central running backs rushed for 100 or more yards in the shutout win.
Logan Music paced Johnson Central on the ground, rushing 16 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns.
Following Music, Braxton Perry rushed eight times for 122 yards and two touchdowns.
Contributing to Johnson Central’s shutout win, Logan Morrow took 13 carries for 100 yards and one touchdown.
Defensively, Dalton Matney (nine tackles), Dylan Lemaster (seven tackles), Bryson Music (six tackles), Brennon Daniels (six tackles) and Drew Ferguson (six tackles) combined to lead the Golden Eagles.
Kicker Mason Bentley paced Johnson Central on special teams, making each of his five extra point kick attempts.
