Bulldogs defeat Lions in final regular season game

ASHLAND — Lawrence County defeated rival Boyd County 40-28 in a high school football regular season finale on Friday, Oct. 31.
The Bulldogs improved to 8-2 after registering the win.
As a result of the loss, Boyd County dropped to 6-4.
Lawrence County owned multiple leads during the game. The Bulldogs led 20-14 at halftime.
Quarterback Luke Fetherolf paced Lawrence County through the air, completing six passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns.
Gray Derifield was Lawrence County’s leading receiver. Derifield hauled in three receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
Following Derifield, Kaden Johnson reeled in three receptions for 56 yards and one touchdown for the Bulldogs.
Lawrence County’s offensive attack was balanced. The Bulldogs rushed 34 times for 264 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson paced Lawrence County on the ground, rushing 14 times for 156 yards and one touchdown.
Along with Johnson, Fetherolf and Carlo Chicko contributed one rushing touchdown apiece for the Bulldogs.
Defensively for Lawrence County, Andrew Ratcliff and Cameron Castle posted 10 tackles apiece.
Making an impact in Lawrence County’s secondary, Braxton Davis recorded one interception.
Kicker Brayden Queen produced via special teams for Lawrence County, connecting on four of his five extra point kick attempts.
District 8 Champion Lawrence County will host McCreary Central in the opening round of the KHSAA Class 3A State Football Playoffs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7.
