PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central defeated crosstown rival Paintsville 7-1 in the Apple Cup girls’ soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 29.

The Eagles claimed a 57th District win, with Lakin Bentley scoring four goals to lead visiting Johnson Central to the win.

Joining Bentley in Johnson Central’s scoring column, Makaylie Walker netted two goals and Josie Dials added one goal.

Brooklyn Ousley recorded three assists for the Eagles.

Both Bentley and Alana Cheek added one assist for Johnson Central in the victory.

Natalie Damron led Johnson Central’s defensive effort from her goalkeeper position, producing three saves while limiting Paintsville to one goal.

Camryn Helton scored Paintsville’s goal in the Apple Cup girls’ soccer match.

Johnson Central edged Rowan County 1-0 in a girls’ high school soccer match in Morehead on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Lakin Bentley scored the only goal to vault Johnson Central to the win over host Rowan County.

Goalkeeper Natalie Damron recorded a shutout with two saves for the Eagles.
