Golden Eagles shut out Jaguars 42-0

PAINTSVILLE — Continuing to win, Johnson Central shut out North Laurel 42-0 in a non-district game on Friday, Sept. 20.

Johnson Central notched its fourth straight win. Following the win, Johnson Central improved to 4-1.

North Laurel suffered its second straight loss. With the loss, North Laurel dropped to 2-2.

Thriving on the ground, Johnson Central rushed 43 times for 406 yards and six touchdowns.

Zack McCoart led Johnson Central to the win. Among the top high school football running backs in the state, McCoart rushed 11 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns.

Contributing to Johnson Central’s offensive attack, Logan Morrow, Christian Barnes, Logan Music and Braxton Perry each added one rushing touchdown.

Defensively for Johnson Central, Dalton Matney and Caleb Barmes recorded eight tackles apiece.

Perry, another defensive player, recorded an interception for the Golden Eagles.

Delivering via special teams for Johnson Central, Cory Hammond connected on each of his six extra-point kick attempts.

Johnson Central is scheduled to host Boyd County for its Class 4A, District 6 opener on Friday, Sept. 27.
