Golden Eagles shut out Harlan County 43-0

BAXTER — Claiming its fourth straight win, Johnson Central shut out host Harlan County 43-0 in a Class 4A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 14.

Johnson Central set the tone early in the Class 4A, District game, controlling each side of the ball. The Golden Eagles led 21-0 at halftime.

Johnson Central rushed 44 times for 328 yards and six touchdowns in the shutout win.

Chase Price led Johnson Central to the win, rushing 17 times for 172 yards and three touchdowns.

Seven different Johnson Central players rushed for positive yardage in the win. Zack McCoart, Christian Barnes and Jacob Grimm added one rushing touchdown apiece for the Golden Eagles.

Johnson Central registered its first shutout in the 2022 high school football season.

Seth Davis and Logan Castle recorded five tackles apiece for Johnson Central in the district win. Behind the team’s top tacklers, Dalton Matney, Caleb Barnes, Chandler Spradlin and Logan Music added four tackles apiece for the Golden Eagles.

Providing a lift in the secondary for Johnson Central, Chandler Spradlin recorded two interceptions.

Sawyer Crum paced Johnson Central on special teams, connecting on each of his four PAT attempts.

Johnson Central is scheduled to host Letcher County Central for a Class 4A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 21.
