Golden Eagles shut out Cardinals 7-0

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central shut out visiting Martin County 7-0 in a 57th District baseball game on Tuesday, April 11.

Hunter Blevins and Dawson Montgomery combined to pitch a three-hit shutout for the Golden Eagles.

Blevins started on the mound for the Golden Eagles and claimed the win. The Johnson Central starter pitched five innings, allowing two hits while registering 12 strikeouts.

Martin County starting pitcher Chase Stacy suffered the loss. Stacy pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits while recording three strikeouts.

Making a relief appearance for the Cardinals, Dawson Mills pitched the final one-third of an inning.

Johnson Central scored seven runs on nine hits. Montgomery (one RBI), Brayden Shepherd (two hits), Ethan McCarty (two hits), Cole Ward (two hits), Chase Preece (one hit, two RBIs), Cameron Kelsey (one hit, one RBI) and Boston Crace (one hit, one RBI) each contributed offensively for the Golden Eagles.

Mills, Damian Cheek and Ryan Stephens each provided one hit for the Cardinals in the district game.

Johnson Central defeated Martin County 8-3 in a 57th District baseball game in Inez on Wednesday, April 12.

Gavin Crum started on the mound for the Golden Eagles and claimed the win. Crum pitched two innings, recording five strikeouts.

In addition to Crum, Johnson Central sent Ethan McCarty, Chase Preece, Cameron Kelsey and Brock Butcher to the mound during the district game.

Greyden Proctor started on the mound for Martin County and took the loss. Proctor pitched five innings, recording six strikeouts.

Aiding Martin County on the mound, Damian Cheek pitched two innings in relief.

Crum (one hit), McCarty (one hit), Preece (one hit), Kelsey (one hit), Butcher (three hits), Boston Crace (two hits), Cash Parks (one hit), Brayden Shepherd (one hit) and Cole Ward (one) each delivered at the plate for the Golden Eagles.

Proctor (one hit), Dawson Mills (one hit) and Aiden Horn (one hit) each connected at the plate for the Cardinals.
