Bulldogs outlast Commodores in 8 innings, 7-6

LOUISA — Lawrence County outlasted 14th Region member Perry County Central 7-6 in eight innings at Randy Keeton Field on Monday, April 17.

The Bulldogs managed to edge the Commodores in a battle of perennial region title contenders.

Pitching in relief, Jake Derifield picked up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs.

Perry County Central relief pitcher Mason Sumner took the loss.

Abner Collinsworth provided the game-winning RBI for the Bulldogs when he singled to drive in Eli Fletcher in the bottom half of the eighth inning.

Collinsworth (one hit, one RBI), Fletcher (one hit), Will Lafferty (two hits, one RBI), Braydan Maynard (two hits, three RBIs), Cody Crum (one hit) and Dylan Whitt (one hit) were each productive at the plate for Lawrence County in its win. Lafferty homered and Fletcher doubled as part of Lawrence County’s winning effort.

Tanner Pekins (three hits, two RBIs), Connor Combs (two hits, one RBI), Dylan Elkins (two hits), Jacob Daniels (two hits), Devin Gayheart (one hit, one RBI), Luke Sandlin (one hit, one RBI) and Talon Goins (one hit) each contributed at the plate for Perry County Central in the mid-season matchup.
