Golden Eagles roll past Lions 42-14

ASHLAND — Johnson Central rolled past Boyd County 42-14 in a Class 4A, District 6 game on Saturday, Sept. 28.

After registering the win, Johnson Central moved to 5-1 overall and opened 1-0 in Class 4A, District 6.

Boyd County dropped to 3-2 overall and opened in 0-1 in Class 4A, District 6 as a result of the loss.

Continuing to thrive on the ground, Johnson Central rushed 40 times for 456 yards and six touchdowns.

Zack McCoart led Johnson Central to the win, rushing 16 times for 236 yards and five touchdowns.

Following McCoart in Johnson Central’s rushing attack, Logan Music took five carries for 105 yards and one touchdown.

Aiding Johnson Central’s offensive attack, Christian Barnes rushed eight times for 48 yards.

Another Johnson Central rusher, Logan Morrow, took seven carries for 41 yards.

Dylan Lemaster paced Johnson Central defensively, posting 12 tackles.

Behind Lemaster in the key defensive category, Caleb Barnes recorded 10 tackles for the Golden Eagles.

Johnson Central has regular season games remaining versus Corbin, Rowan County, Greenup County and Ashland. Through its first six regular season games, Johnson Central has outscored opponents 239-130.

Johnson Central is scheduled to host rival Corbin for a non-district game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.
