Golden Eagles outlast Panthers

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central outlasted reigning 15th Region champion Pikeville 3-2 in eight innings on Thursday, May 15.

Kaleb Callaham pitched three innings in relief for Johnson Central and earned the win on the mound.

Along with Callaham, Kyle Rose made a relief pitching appearance for the Golden Eagles.

Callaham and Rose each recorded two strikeouts.

Dawson Montgomery started on the mound for Johnson Central and pitched three innings. Montgomery struck out one Pikeville batter.

Bradyn Hall pitched one inning in relief for Pikeville and suffered the loss.

Isaac Duty started on the mound for the Panthers. Duty pitched six and two-thirds innings, recording 11 strikeouts.

Johnson Central plated three runs on three hits. Callaham (one hit, one RBI), Brayden Shepherd (one hit, one RBI) and Braxton Perry (one hit) accounted for Johnson Central’s offense. Supplying an extra-base hit for the Golden Eagles, Perry doubled.

Pikeville pushed across two runs on seven hits. Jackson Hall (two hits), Bradyn Hall (one hit, one RBI), Grant Tomlinson (two hits), Zach McCoy (one hit, one RBI) and Isaiah Stanley (one hit) each contributed at the plate for defending region champion Pikeville.
