Golden Eagles notch win over Breathitt County

JACKSON — Claiming its third straight win, Johnson Central defeated Breathitt County 56-35 in a non-district high school football game on Friday, Sept. 13.

After registering the win, Johnson Central improved to 3-1.

Johnson Central scored first and never trailed. The Golden Eagles led 21-0 before the Bobcats scored.

Visiting Johnson Central outscored Breathitt County 21-7 in the first quarter.

Extending its lead, Johnson Central added four touchdowns in the second quarter and entered halftime out in front 49-14.

The Golden Eagles led 49-21 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Johnson Central rushed 38 times for 364 yards and six touchdowns. The Golden Eagles used a diverse rushing attack to claim the victory.

Zack McCoart led Johnson Central on the ground, rushing 12 times for 150 yards and one touchdown.

Following McCoart in Johnson Central’s rushing attack, Christian Barnes took 10 carries for 75 yard.

Behind Barnes, Logan Music rushed six times for 70 yads and two touchdowns.

Chipping in on the ground for Johnson Central, Braxton Perry rushed three times for 44 yards and one touchdown.

Quarterback Austin Slone paced Johnson Central through the air, completing four passes for 97 yards and one touchdown.

Gabe Conley hauled in two receptions for 56 yards in the Golden Eagles’ win.

Finding the endzone via the air, Seth Davis reeled in a 31-yard touchdown reception for the Golden Eagles.

Defensively for Johnson Central, Davis, Dalton Matney and Christian Barnes each recorded six tackles.

Delivering a defensive score in Johnson Central’s win, Perry returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown.

Johnson Central is scheduled to host North Laurel for its next game on Friday, Sept. 20.
