PAINTSVILLE — Reigning state champion Johnson Central continued to dominate in Week 7 of the 2020 high school football season, leveling visiting Letcher County Central 62-0 in a Class 4A, District 8 game at Eagle Field on Friday, Oct. 23. Johnson Central moved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in Class 4A, District 8 after notching the win. Letcher County Central dropped to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the district as a result of the loss. Senior athlete Dylan Preston led Johnson Central to the shutout win. Preston rushed eight times for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Showing his versatility, Preston was on the receiving end of a 25-yard scoring pass from junior quarterback Grant Rice. Producing defensively, Preston recorded 2 tackles, 1.5 sacks and returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown. Rice completed 4 of 5 passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns for the Golden Eagles. Contributing offensively for Johnson Central, Cameron Wright rushed for one touchdown and hauled in a scoring pass. Blayden Sexton ranked as Johnson Central's second-leading rusher, rushing three times for 77 yards and one touchdown. Behind Sexton on the ground for the Golden Eagles, Mason Lawson rushed four times for 70 yards. Providing another defensive score in the Golden Eagles' victory, Andrew Burchett returned a fumble 41 yards for a touchdown. Johnson Central is scheduled to host rival Belfry for a non-district matchup on Friday, Oct. 30.
