Golden Eagles knock off Shelby Valley 71-47

ROBINSON CREEK – Recording its eighth straight win, visiting Johnson Central knocked off Shelby Valley 71-47 in a boys' high school basketball game on Friday, Feb. 12.
The Golden Eagles moved to 11-1 after posting the win.
Johnson Central shot 57.1 percent (28-of-49) from the field. The Golden Eagles were 10-of-18 from 3-point range, shooting 55.6 percent beyond the arc.
Johnson Central finished 5-of-11 from the free throw line.
The Golden Eagles outrebounded the Wildcats 32-25.
Five Johnson Central players reached double figures in scoring.
Leading Johnson Central's balanced offensive attack, Isaiah May scored a game-high 18 points. May was 5-of-18 from 3-point range.
Following May in scoring for the Golden Eagles, Cory VanHoose tossed in 13 points.
Accompanying May and VanHoose in double figures, John King, Kamen Slone and Grant Rice added 10 points apiece.
Ryleh McKenzie, who finished with seven points, paced Johnson Central on the backboards, grabbing nine rebounds.
Shelby Valley shot 30.2 percent (16-of-53) from the field. The Wildcats were 6-of-26 (23.1 percent) from 3-point range.
Shelby Valley shot 64.3 percent (9-of-14) from the free throw line.
Kaden Robinson led Shelby Valley, scoring a team-high 17 points for the Wildcats. Robinson was the only Shelby Valley player to reach double figures in scoring. Currently, Robinson ranks as the Wildcats' leading scorer in the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season.
