Golden Eagles defeat Vikings convincingly

MOREHEAD — Johnson Central rolled past Rowan County 63-6 in a Class 4A, District 6 game on Friday, Oct. 10.

After notching the win, Johnson Central moved to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in Class 4A, District 6.

The Golden Eagles amassed 506 yards of total offense and scored nine touchdowns in the lopsided win.

Johnson Central rushed 19 times for 323 yards and six touchdowns. Brennon Daniels led Johnson Central on the ground, rushing five times for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

Contributing on the ground for Johnson Central, Logan Music, Ryker yates, JD Morris and Grayson Cochran each added one rushing touchdown.

The additional players who rushed for positive yardage in Johnson Central’s win were Collin Cantrell, Rylan Kelsey, Bryson Music, Austn Slone and Pacey Howard.

Slone excelled through the air, completing nine of 11 pass attempts for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

Morris led Johnson Central in receiving, finishing with five receptions for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

Behind Morris, Kelsey hauled in three receptions for 56 yards and one touchdown.

Bryson Music paced Johnson Central defensively, recording 10 tackles.

Second in the key defensive category for Johnson Central, Logan Carpenter posted seven tackles.

Producing on special teams, kicker Mason Bentley made seven of eight extra-point kick attempts for the Golden Eagles.

Johnson Central is scheduled to visit Greenup County for its next Class 4A, District 6 game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17.
