Golden Eagles defeat Pulaski County

PAINTSVILLE — Remaining unbeaten, Johnson Central defeated Pulaski County 50-30 in a non-district game at Coach Jim Matney Field on Friday, Sept. 19.

After registering the win, Johnson Central moved to 5-0.

As a result of the loss, Pulaski County slipped to 4-1.  

The Golden Eagles scored first and never trailed. Johnson Central led 24-0 at halftime.

Undefeated Johnson Central rushed 53 times for 534 yards and seven touchdowns, Braxton Perry led Johnson Central, rushing 25 times for 251 yards and four touchdowns.  

Following Perry in Johnson Central’s rushing attack, Logan Music took 16 carries for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

Contributing on the ground for two-time state champion Johnson Central, Bryson Music rushed four times for 75 yards and one touchdown.  

Dylan Lemaster, a linebacker, paced perennial title contender Johnson Central defensively, recording 16 tackles. In another solid defensive performance for Johnson Central, Drew Ferguson, a lineman, posted 10 tackles. Lemaster and Ferguson each tallied five solo tackles.

Rylan Kelsey provided a turnover for Johnson Central, delivering an interception.

Johnson Central is scheduled to host Boyd County for its Class 4A, District 6 opener on Friday, Sept. 26.
