Golden Eagles defeat Harlan County 43-6

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central moved ahead early and pulled away to defeat visiting Harlan County 43-6 in a Class 4A, District 8 game at Coach Jim Matney Field on Friday, Oct. 15.
The Golden Eagles forced Harlan County to play from behind throughout the Class 4A, District 8 game. Johnson Central scored first and never trailed. Two-time state champion Johnson Central led 28-0 at halftime.
The Golden Eagles rushed 26 times for 256 yards and five touchdowns. Carter Conley broke free for multiple long runs, rushing six times for 95 yards and one touchdowns to lead Johnson Central on the ground.
Seven different Johnson Central players rushed for positive yardage.
Zack McCart rushed seven times for 76 yards and two touchdowns for the Golden Eagles.
Quarterback Grant Rice, who completed three of six passes, rushed four times for 27 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles' district win.
Mason Lemaster led Johnson Central's defensive effort, recording 10 tackles for the Golden Eagles.
Johnson Central is scheduled to visit Letcher County Central for a Class 4A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 22.
