Bulldogs record shutout, capture region championship

PAINTSVILLE — Lawrence County blanked Prestonsburg 2-0 in the 15th Region Boys' Soccer Tournament title game at Johnson Central High School's Coach Jim Matney Field on Wednesday, Oct. 13.

The win allowed Lawrence County (15-2-2) to advance to the Boys' Soccer State Tournament, while Prestonsburg (20-3-0) was eliminated from the postseason as a result of the loss.
Andrew Vinson and Blake Maynard scored one goal apiece to lead Lawrence County to the championship-clinching win.
Sam LeFever provided an assist on one of Lawrence County's two goals in the region title match.
Goalkeeper Trenton Adkins paced Lawrence County defensively, recording a shutout. Adkins logged 15 saves.
Lawrence County was set to host Somerset in the opening round of the Boys' Soccer State Tournament on Monday, Oct. 18.

Chipping in offensively for the Bulldogs, Matthew Clevenger and Luke Johnson provided one assist apiece.
