PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central notched back-to-back wins at home over East Ridge and Belfry during the third week of the 2022-23 boys’ high school basketball season.
Johnson Central 59, East Ridge 44:
Halting a three-game losing skid, Johnson Central pulled away to defeat East Ridge 59-44 in a boys’ high school basketball game on Thursday, Dec. 15.
Johnson Central shot 70.6 percent (12 of 17) from the free-throw line and claimed 46 rebounds in the win.
Ryan Rose scored 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles.
Rose was the only Johnson Central player to reach double figures in scoring.
Following Rose in the Golden Eagles’ scoring column, Mason Lawson netted eight points.
Finishing directly behind Lawson in scoring for Johnson Central, Austin Slone and David Fink added seven points apiece.
Contributing inside, Lawson and Slone each hauled in eight rebounds for the Golden Eagles.
Johnson Central 71, Belfry 34
Remaining in the win column, Johnson Central leveled Belfry 71-34 in a boys’ high school basketball game on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Registering a double-double, Ryan Rose scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Johnson Central to the win.
Joining Rose in double figures in scoring for the Golden Eagles, Austin Slone netted 17 points.
Nearly reaching double figures for Johnson Central, Conner Hopkins and Jacob Grimm added nine points apiece.
Narrowly missing a double-double for the Golden Eagles, Grimm grabbed 10 rebounds.
Johnson Central shot 50.9 percent (27 of 53) from the field in the win. The Golden Eagles shot 53.8 percent (seven of 13) from three-point range.
Johnson Central shot 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the free-throw line.
