Bulldogs hold off Blackcats 65-63

LOUISA — Lawrence County held on to beat visiting Prestonsburg 65-63 in a 58th District boys’ basketball game on Friday, Dec. 16.
The Bulldogs opened 1-0 in the 58th District. Lawrence County claimed its fourth straight win.
With the win, Lawrence County improved to 5-2 overall.
Lawrence County connected on six three-point field goals. The Bulldogs shot 50 percent (nine of 18) from the free throw line.
Andrew Bloomfield scored 16 points to lead Lawrence County to the district win.
Finishing directly behind Bloomfield in scoring for the Bulldogs, Will Lafferty netted 15 points.
Lawrence County featured four scorers in double figures. Blake Marcum and Logan Ratliff added 12 points apiece for the Bulldogs.
Lawrence Country led by as many as 17 points in the third quarter. However, Prestonsburg managed to make multiple runs to push the Bulldogs late in the 58th District boys’ basketball game. Still, Lawrence County held on for the key district win.
