LLOYD — Johnson Central pulled away to defeat Cabell Midland (W.Va.) 5-1 in a high school baseball game at Greenup County High School on Friday, April 30.
After notching the win, Johnson Central improved to 10-7.
Conner Lemaster started on the mound for the Golden Eagles and earned the win. Lemaster pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits while recording nine strikeouts and giving up only one walk.
Working out of a relief role for Johnson Central, Cameron Kelsey pitched two innings. Kelsey allowed one hit and held Cabell Midland scoreless as he registered two strikeouts and claimed the save.
The Golden Eagles plated five runs on seven hits. Matt Crum (2-for-5), Brock Butcher (2-for-4, one RBI), Mason Kestner (1-for-3), Ryan Sartin-Slone (1-for-3, two RBIs) and Keygan Pelfrey (1-for-4, two RBIs) contributed at the plate for Johnson Central in the victory.
Sartin-Slone homered for the Golden Eagles. Adding another extra-base hit for Johnson Central, Butcher doubled.
Johnson Central and Cabell Midland aren't scheduled to meet again in the 2021 high school baseball season.
