Golden Eagles battle Panthers to 1-1 tie

PIKEVILLE — Johnson Central battled Pikeville to a 1-1 tie in a boys’ high school soccer match on Thursday, Aug. 10.

Braydon Staniford scored Johnson Central’s goal off an assist from Jaidon Daniel.

Defensively for the Golden Eagles, goalkeeper Peyton Daniel recorded 15 saves.

Matthew Mullins scored for host Pikeville in the boys’ high school soccer match.

Goalkeeper Keyton Looney paced Pikeville’s defensive effort, logging nine saves for the Panthers.

Prior to meeting Pikeville, Johnson Central dropped its season opener to East Carter earlier in the week.

East Carter 4, Johnson Central 1: Johnson Central was limited as East Carter pulled away to win 4-1 in a boys’ high school soccer season opener in Grayson on Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Patrick McDavid netted three goals to lead host East Carter to the win.

In addition to McDavid’s hat trick, Jackson Stewart netted one goal for the Raiders.
