Bulldogs drop season opener to Russell

RUSSELL — Lawrence County was limited as Russell pulled away to win 4-1 in a boys’ high school soccer match on Tuesday, Aug. 10.

The match served as an opener for Lawrence County in the 2023 boys’ high school soccer season.

Jacob Lodwick scored three goals to lead Rusell to the win.

Along with Lodwick’s hat trick, Jeison Benitez Ramires and Alan Benitez Ramires netted one goal apiece for the Red Devils.

Chipping in offensively for Russell, Ben Totten provided one assist.

Goalkeeper Ravi Ahuja paced Russell defensively, recording three saves while holding the Bulldogs to one goal.

A candidate for 15th Region Boys’ Soccer Player of the Year, Blake Maynard paced Lawrence County in the match.

Lawrence County is scheduled to host Russell in the second half of the 2023 boys’ high school soccer season on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
