Floyd Central receives National High School Baseball Field of the Year Award

EASTERN — Floyd Central High School has been honored as the recipient of the National High School Baseball Field of the Year Award, presented by the National High School Baseball Coaches Association (NHSBCA).
The announcement was made by Tim Saunders, Executive Vice-President of the NHSBCA. The award recognizes excellence in field maintenance, design and overall facility management, placing Floyd Central High School’s field among the nation’s elite high school baseball fields.
The award was presented to Floyd Central High School Baseball Coach Bryan Patton and members of his coaching staff, Frank Martin and Ryan Pennington, during the NHSBCA’s annual conference awards ceremony in Fort Myers, Florida on Friday, Dec. 6.
FCHS Principal Greta Thornsberry praised the dedication and teamwork behind the achievement.
“This award reflects the commitment and hard work of Coach Patton, his staff, and everyone involved in maintaining our baseball field,” said Thornsberry. “It is a testament to our community’s pride in providing top-tier facilities for our student-athletes. We are incredibly proud to receive this national recognition.”
FCHS Athletic Director Tony Isaac highlighted the importance of the honor.
“Receiving this prestigious award from the NHSBCA is a monumental moment for Floyd Central Athletics,” said Isaac. “It demonstrates our dedication to excellence not only in competition but also providing first-class facilities for our students. Congratulations to Coach Patton and his team for their outstanding efforts.”
Interim Floyd County Superintendent Larry Hammond commended the collaborative efforts that made the achievement possible.
“This award underscores the collective commitment of our coaches, staff, and community to excellence in both athletics and academics,” said Hammond. “Floyd Central High School continues to set a standard of excellence.”
Patton expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the efforts of his entire team.
“This honor belongs to everyone who has worked tirelessly to make our field one of the best in the country,” said Patton. “From our coaching staff to our students and supporters, this is a shared victory that reflects the passion we all have for Floyd Central Baseball.”
