Feltner scores 4,000th point in Lady Bulldogs’ win

LOUISA — Miss Basketball candidate Kensley Feltner scored her 4,000th career point as Lawrence County edged visiting Greenup County 61-58 in a regular-season finale on Friday, Feb. 17.
Feltner, who has signed with Bellarmine University, joined Whitney Creech, Jaime Walz and Geri Grigsby as the only Kentucky girls’ high school basketball players ever to score 4,000 points.
Sophie Adkins made a three-point field goal as time expired to lift Lawrence County to the win over Greenup County.
Recording a double-double, Feltner scored 33 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Lawrence County to the win. Feltner led all players in scoring and rebounding.
Adkins logged another double-double for the Lady Bulldogs. After connecting on the game-winning shot, Adkins finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Lawrence County shot 38.3 percent (23-of-60) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs made seven of 29 three-point field goal attempts.
Lawrence County shot 88.9 percent (eight-of-nine) from the free throw line while outrebounding Greenup County 29-27.
Near double figures, Abby Nelson added eight points for Lawrence County in the winning effort.
Behind Nelson, Emmalee Holt (three points) and Kaison Ward (two points) provided Lawrence County’s other scoring.
Greenup County shot 44.4 percent (20-of-45) from the field in the regular season finale. The Lady Musketeers shot 40 percent (six-of-15) from three-point range.
Greenup County shot 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the free throw line.
Rachel Bush paced Greenup County with a double-double, scoring 22 points and claiming 12 rebounds.
Along with Bush reaching double figures for Greenup County, Emily Maynard scored 15 points and Katie Shaffer netted 10 points.
Finishing outside double figures, Kennedy Spencer (seven points) and Dharia Crum (four points) combined to round out Greenup County’s scoring.
