Feltner promoted to Hillsboro Hops

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Lawrence County High School graduate Jackson Feltner was promoted to the Hillsboro Hops on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Feltner made the move to High A Hillsboro from Visalia. The Hops are located in Hillsboro, Oregon and compete in the Northwest League.

Through Sunday, Aug. 11, Feltner was batting .261 with eight home runs and 42 RBIs in the 2024 minor league baseball season.

Feltner was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in Round 8 of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft.

Prior to beginning his professional career, Feltner excelled at Morehead State University.

Feltner thrived in college. As a junior at Morehead State University, Feltner was named First Team All-OVC at first base, starting all 56 games for the Eagles. Feltner was named the Preseason OVC Player of the Year. He led the Eagles in batting average for the third straight season (.348) while delivering 14 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Feltner homered in three straight games from April 23-April 28. He hit his first career grand slam during a game versus Saint Peter’s on Feb. 26.

Feltner was named to the All-OVC Baseball Tournament team after a walkoff single in a semifinal win over Little Rock.

As a sophomore in 2022, Feltner was named First-Team All-OVC first baseman after starting all 54 games for the Eagles. He led MSU in nine offensive categories, posting a .393 batting average with 16 home runs, 17 doubles and 51 RBIs.

In 2021, Feltner was named the OVC Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball. He was tabbed the 2021 First-Team All-OVC first baseman. Feltner ranked second among all true freshmen in NCAA Division I with a .390 average. His season statistics as a freshman also included a .652 slugging percentage, .452 on-base percentage, 64 hits, 11 home runs, 10 doubles, 42 RBI and a .981 fielding percentage.

Prior to college, Feltner led the Lawrence County High School baseball program to a 15th Region title during his junior season. Feltner was named to the Kentucky All-American Team by the Kentucky National High School Baseball Coaches Association after leading the state in home runs with 14 in his junior campaign. His senior season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Feltner batted .429 with 13 doubles, two triples and 14 home runs as a junior. He delivered 55 RBIs and scored 50 runs.

Feltner batted .386 with 33 doubles, four triples, 16 home runs, 135 RBI and 104 runs during his prep career. He played prep baseball under the tutelage of his father, current LCHS head coach Travis Feltner.
