Feltner becomes Lawrence County’s all-time leading scorer, pours in 43 points at Letcher Central

WHITESBURG — Senior guard Kensley Feltner became the all-time leading scorer in Lawrence County basketball history as the Lady Bulldogs beat Letcher County Central 73-60 on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
Feltner recorded a game-high double-double, pouring in 43 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. The Lawrence County senior guard has signed with Belmont University.
Lawrence County moved ahead early, outscoring Letcher County Central 22-13 in the first quarter.
Remaining ahead midway through the matchup, Lawrence County led 33-29 at halftime.
Extending its lead after the intermission period, Lawrence County outscored Letcher County Central 25-15 in the third quarter to lead 58-44.
Lawrence County shot 46.4 percent (26-of-56) from the field in the win. The Lady Bulldogs shot 30.4 percent (seven-of-23) from three-point range.
Lawrence County shot 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the free throw line.
The Lady Bulldogs outrebounded Letcher County Central 32-26.
Accompanying Feltner in double figures for Lawrence County, Sophie Adkins netted 14 points.
Finishing near double figures for Lawrence County in the victory, Kaison Ward added eight points.
Letcher County Central shot 46.2 percent (24-of-52) from the field. The Lady Cougars shot 37.5 percent (three-of-eight) from three-point range.
Letcher County Central shot 50 percent (nine-of-18) from the free throw line.
Keira Couch scored 20 points to lead Letcher County Central. In addition to Couch reaching double figures for Letcher County Central, Heidi Bentley netted 14 points.
Nearly logging a double-double for Letcher County Central, Jaylin White added nine points and nine rebounds.
Non-region rivals, Lawrence County and Letcher County Central aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2022-23 girls’ high school basketball season.
