Determined Martin County holds off Paintsville, wins 55-50

INEZ — Martin County notched its second straight win over the weekend, holding off visiting Paintsville to win 55-50 in a 57th District boys' basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 23.
After notching the win, Martin County improved to 3-4 overall and opened 1-0 in the 57th District.
Paintsville dropped to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the 57th District after absorbing the loss.
Martin County shot 36.4 percent (16-of-44) from the field. The Cardinals were 10-of-27 from 3-point range, shooting 37 percent beyond the arc.
Martin County shot 52 percent (13-of-25) from the free throw line.
Brady Dingess scored 18 points to lead the Cardinals. Dingess was 3-of-6 from 3-point range.
Registering a double-double, Jordan Dalton added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals.
Barely missing double figures, Parker Davis netted nine points for Martin County in the victory.
James Dials chipped in six points for the Cardinals while Jacob Butcher and Landon Hale finished with five points apiece. Attacking the backboards, Butcher pulled down seven rebounds for the Cardinals in the victory.
Colby Fugate and Braxton Tharp combined to pace Paintsville in the 57th District boys' basketball matchup.
