ASHLAND — Returning to the win column, Lawrence County pulled away to beat Chesapeake (Ohio) 82-71 in the Boyd County Roundball Classic on Saturday, Jan. 23.

After registering the win on a neutral court, Lawrence County improved to 4-2.

Lawrence County shot 43.9 percent (25-of-57) from the field. The Bulldogs were 4-of-18 from 3-point range.

Lawrence County, a member of the 58th District. shot 87.5 percent (28-of-32) from the free throw line.

Cody Maynard, a junior guard, scorched the nets for a game-high 35 points to lead Lawrence County to the victory. Maynard was 13-of-13 from the free throw line. He connected on 4-of-10 3-point field goal attempts.

Following Maynard in double figures in scoring and recording a double-double, Trenton Adkins added 23 points and 14 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Adkins was 11-of-20 from inside the arc.

Joining Maynard and Adkins in double figures in scoring for Lawrence County, Baden Gillispie added 10 points.

Finishing near double digits in scoring for Lawrence County, Will Lafferty chipped in eight points.

Lawrence County was scheduled to visit former 57th District rival Martin County on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
