LOUISA — Lawrence County High School senior Allie Collinsworth is headed to the next level.
Collinsworth signed with the Kentucky Christian University women’s soccer program during a ceremony held in the LCHS Library on Tuesday, May 19.
“It’s very exciting to have the opportunity to play at the college level,” said Lawrence County High School Athletic Director Chandler Thompson. “We are very proud of you, Allie! And this is a moment that you and your family should be very proud of. I know she was a little hesitant to even hold a signing ceremony, which shows just how humble she is. It is not all about recognition and attention for her, but it is very well deserved! And I am thankful she decided to follow through and have this event. Allie has worked hard for this opportunity, and she should enjoy this day with her friends and family. Again, we are very proud of you, and you have us all in your corner, rooting for you!”
Lawrence County High School Coach Sonny Mynhier was quick to recognize Collinsworth’s dedication to the sport of soccer.
“Allie is proof that if you work hard, even on your days off, that anything can happen,” said Mynhier. “I tell these girls all the time, you learn at practice, you get better at home, you execute during the game. Allie had never played on an organized soccer team until her junior year. But if you were to drive up Bulldog Lane on any day of the week, you would see her practicing. It didn’t matter the time of day; that kid was walking to the field, was on the field, or walking back from the field. In two short years, her transformation has been amazing. Her dedication has paid off, and now she will be playing as a KCU Knight this fall! I am proud of you, Allie!”
The Kentucky Christian University women’s soccer team competes in the River States Conference.
