Cardinals roll past Warriors 85-58

PIKEVILLE — The Martin County Cardinals rolled past the East Ridge Warriors 85-58 in the opening round of the 15th Region All “A” Classic at Appalachian Wireless Arena on Saturday, Jan. 4.
The Cardinals shot 54.5 percent (36-of-66) from the field. Martin County shot 46.2 percent (12-of-26) from three-point range.
The Cardinals made one of two free throw attempts in the tournament game.
Martin County dominated inside, outrebounding East Ridge 50-26.
Parker Watts poured in a game-high 27 points for the Cardinals. Watts led a group of four Martin County scorers in double figures.
Joining Watts in double figures for the Cardinals, Bryson Dials scored 13 points, Devan Maynard netted 12 points and Peyton Davis posted 10 points.
Dials recorded a double-double for Martin County, claiming a game-high 12 rebounds.
Narrowly missing double figures, Brayden Estep netted nine points for the Cardinals. Estep nearly recorded a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds.
Contributing offensively, Eli Mills (eight points), Alan Moore (two points), Brayden Marcum (two points) and Jaxson Pack (two points) followed Estep in Martin County’s scoring column.
East Ridge shot 35.0 percent (21-of-60) from the field. The Warriors managed to shoot 41.9 percent (13-of-31) from three-point range.
East Ridge connected on each of its three free throw attempts.
Carter Damron paced East Ridge, scoring a team-high 16 points for the Warriors. Joining Damron in double figures for East Ridge, Talon Hopkins scored 13 points and Brayden Wilson netted 11 points.
Finishing outside double figures, Canaan Ramey (six points), Luke Langel (three points), Keegan Wallace (three points), Gage May (two points), Peyton Coleman (two points) and Connor Adkins (two points) followed Wilson in East Ridge’s scoring column.
