Cardinals outlast Fleming County 53-46

INEZ – Martin County outlasted visiting Fleming County 53-46 in a high school football game on Friday, Sept. 3.
The win allowed Martin County to even its record to 1-1.
Following the loss, Fleming County dropped to 1-2.
The Cardinals amassed 471 yards of total offense in the victory.
Martin County thrived on the ground, rushing 43 times for 371 yards.
Three different Martin County running backs rushed for over 100 yards in the winning effort.
Kolby Sparks led the Cardinals, rushing 14 times for 132 yards and four touchdowns.
Following Sparks, Branson Smith rushed 17 times for 126 yards for the Cardinals.
Behind Smith, Dawson Mills rushed seven times for 102 yards and two touchdowns in Martin County's win.
Contributing on the ground for the Cardinals, quarterback Jason Maynard rushed five times for 11 yards and two touchdowns.
Through the air, Maynard completed four of seven passes for 100 yards.
Mills led Martin County in receiving, reeling in three receptions for 90 yards.
Kicker Bobby Hale paced the Cardinals on special teams, connecting on 5-of-5 extra-point kicks.
Quarterback Zeke Conn led Fleming County, completing 17 of 29 passes for 318 yards and seven touchdowns. Conn threw one interception in nearly 30 pass attempts.
Logan Pinkley emerged as Fleming County's leading receiver, reeling in nine receptions for 266 yards and three touchdowns.
Contributing to the Panthers' aerial attack, Levi Denton, Landon Johnson, Austin Trent and Hoss Morgan each added one touchdown pass reception.
Limited on the ground, Fleming County rushed 28 times for 94 yards.
Dorton paced the Panthers on the ground, rushing four times for 38 yards.
Conn and Trent combined to lead Fleming County's defensive effort, recording 14 tackles apiece.
Martin County is scheduled to visit Knott County Central on Friday, Sept. 10.
